Join us for Lancashire County Council's Heritage Open Day on Saturday 19 September at County Hall, Preston.
For the third year running we're opening the doors of County Hall, as part of Heritage Open Days, as we celebrate the stories, people and places that have shaped our county.
Whether you're a history lover, architecture enthusiast, or simply curious about the people and the stories behind these buildings, there’s something for everyone. You can choose to attend a guided talk or tour or simply turn up on the day and explore at your own pace.
Chamber Talks A rare opportunity to step inside the impressive Council Chamber with Chief of Staff, Josh Mynott – explore the rich heritage, history and architecture of County Hall.
Chapel Talks Explore Christ Church Chapel with Conservation and Collections Manager, Heather Davis. Uncover facts about this historic building and its role as the county council Chapel.
Archives Tours
Lancashire Archives is home to millions of historical documents that help tell the remarkable story of Lancashire and its people, dating back to 1115. Join the team to discover how these invaluable collections are preserved and made accessible for future generations in the iconic 1970s Record Office building – a fine example of modernist architecture!
Meet with teams from different council services and take a trip down memory lane as we serve up some delicious Lancashire favourites in Reflections Restaurant.
