Beware cold callers In the Longridge area.
A cold caller has been targeting vulnerable people in the Longridge area by obtaining money for small roofing jobs, then partly completing work that hasn't been agreed and trying to obtain more money to rectify the issues they created. The trader is not providing any pre-contractual information or cancellation rights to consumers. Please do not agree to any work on the doorstep and stay vigilant for any vulnerable neighbours who may have been cold called.
Beware cold callers in the Thornton Cleveleys area
Residents in the Thornton Cleveleys area are being warned of cold callers knocking on doors offering roofing work/ repairs. Reports have been received of the bogus callers, 3 men who arrive in a van, claiming roofing works need doing. They give a price, wanting the deposit up front for supplies. The cold callers then insist on taking the householder to the bank, take the money, leave and do not return.
Do not pay cash up front, use caution. Remember, if you agree to work in your own home, you should be provided with details in writing of your 14 day right to cancel the contract.
Beware cold callers in the Burnley/ Padiham area
Residents are asked to be on the alert for a man cold calling, offering to carry out work to your roof. The cold caller was targeting retired residents in the Padiham area, trying to obtain large amounts of cash for very small roofing jobs, massively overcharging.

Beware fake celebrity advertisement scams
Beware fake online adverts, alleging to be from celebrities or public figures, trying to lure you into fake shopping or investment scams. The fake ads can appear on social media platforms, mobile apps and in advertising banners on websites. AI can be used to generate videos to make the scams look very convincing.
Check if the celebrity is posting from their official profile or account. Consider whether the ad seems out of character, while some celebrities may endorse products, they don’t usually promote complex investments or wonder cures.
