Garstang Bridge Maintenance
16th of July, 2024Lancashire County Council is undertaking scour protection work at Garstang Bridge. The bridge carries B6430 Bridge Street over the River Wyre.
The work involves installing rock filter bags to the central pier and south abutment from the northeast riverbank using a crane. We have commenced on setting up our site compound and carrying out preparation works in the field northeast to the bridge. The installation work is programmed to take place in the week commencing 22nd July 2024 and we anticipate finishing by 9th August 2024.
Access to properties and businesses will be maintained whilst this work is in progress. However, a section of the Public Right of Way footpath closest to the bridge is required to be closed off for the works to be carried out safely. We endeavour to minimise the duration of this closure and will have it reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.
Our work site entrance is located on Castle Lane opposite to St Mary and St Michael Catholic School. Please take extra care while accessing near our work site.
If you have any concerns or queries, please contact us on 0300 123 6780 or [email protected].
We apologise for the disruption and inconvenience this work has caused. We would like to thank you for your patience whilst we carry out this essential bridge maintenance work.
